About Us
I have the pleasure to introduce to you Sami Institute of Nursing and Health Sciences which was founded in 2016 in the Gambia. After serving in the United Kingdom in the National Health Service (NHS) for 15 years, in addition to 10 years of earlier service in the health system and medical practice in The Gambia,
I decided to found this institute with the aim of transferring my personal skills, and those of other professionals in the college teaching staff, to young men and women who aspire to become paramedical professionals in The Gambia and other parts of Africa.

Our Philosphy
The Sami Institute of Nursing and Allied Health Sciences believes that the Enrolled Nurse programme should:
Be guided by the International Code of Nursing Ethics, the code of Nursing Practice and Regulations of the Nurses & Midwives Council of The Gambia.
Prepare an Enrolled Nurse who will practice in all care settings and develop sensitivity in providing care tailored to the individual needs of clients and their families.
Prepare the Enrolled Nurse to work under the guidance of trained nurses to assist individuals, families and communities in disease prevention and health promotion.
Incorporate new nursing and health knowledge and technology and maintain high standards of care.
Facilitate the development of an Enrolled Nurse who is motivated towards continuing progressive learning.
Provide a stimulating, supportive and encouraging environment for learning using facilitative strategies.
Be guided by best practices / standard procedures in the maintenance of Health and Safety at work guidelines.
