Founded in 2016 in The Gambia, Sami Institute of Nursing and Health Sciences is dedicated to advancing excellence in healthcare education and professional development.
The Institute was established by a healthcare professional with over 25 years of combined experience—15 years of service in the United Kingdom’s National Health Service (NHS) and 10 years in The Gambia’s medical and health system. Guided by this wealth of experience, the Institute was created to transfer practical skills and professional knowledge to young men and women aspiring to become qualified paramedical and healthcare practitioners in The Gambia and across Africa.
At Sami Institute, we are committed to nurturing a new generation of healthcare professionals grounded in compassion, ethics, discipline, and a passion for service excellence. Our programs are designed to meet the growing demand for competent nurses and allied health professionals while reducing the financial burden on families and governments associated with overseas training.
Since its establishment, Sami Institute has steadily positioned itself as one of the country’s most promising and dynamic institutions in nursing and health sciences education. From its official opening in December 2023 with an initial enrollment of 70 students, the Institute has experienced remarkable growth, now boasting a student population of over 370 and counting.
